   Classroom Music Teacher,

Hooper Avenue Elementary, LAUSD

(Sep.-Dec. 2018)

 

         Designed and implemented curriculum centered around culturally important Latin music

 to serve the needs of a predominantly Latino community in South Central LA as full-time

 classroom music teacher to grades 3-5.

   Piano Teacher, KC & Friends

       (Oct 2015-Jun 2016)

 

Taught weekly in-home lessons to 21 students.  Developed curricula as well as implemented proprietary

 curriculum, prepared students for annual performance. 

 

   Classroom Teacher (2009-2012) - Mindbuilders Arts Center, Bronx, New York

 

Taught weekly keyboard proficiency/music theory classes to groups of up to six.  Coordinated bi-annual performances, composed for and accompanied most groups.   

 

 

   Private Piano Teacher  - Freelance, (2001-present)

 

Taught private piano lessons to a roster of about 11 students aged 3 – 67 years, some for more than 6 years, sometimes whole families including special needs  Almost all accepted as beginners,  now capable of reading and composing music.   Some have gone on to enter prestigious music programs.

 

   Accompanist   -Long Island University, Brooklyn, NY (2009, 2011,2013)

 

Accompanied tri-weekly classes for both Martha Graham and Ballet techniques for beginning and intermediate dance majors. 

 

   Minister of Music –  New Journey Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY.

     Led worship music for  20-30 member gospel Church in Bed-Stuy. Brooklyn. Coordinated repertoire, hired musicians, played piano and organ, sang, and handled sound and technical issues.
